Animal Welfare

“The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made… You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.”

– Psalm 145, Verses 9 & 16

The Foundation supports organizations that promote the ethical and humane treatment of animals. The Foundation prioritizes organizations that seek to prevent animal cruelty through rescue and rehabilitative care, as well as those that secure safe, loving, forever homes for companion animals. At the community-level, the Foundation supports initiatives that ensure the city is safe for animals and residents.

Animal welfare agencies were able to provide free or reduced-cost spay-neuter surgeries to over 18,700 dogs and cats in 2020 throughout DFW. Reducing the number of intact animals is proven to reduce animal aggression and dog bites, curb the population of stray animals and those entering Dallas Animal Services and area shelters, and helps drive up the live release rate in Dallas.

The City of Dallas was able to maintain its designation as a “No-Kill City” by keeping the live release rate, or rate of animals that enter Dallas Animal Services and are adopted into a forever home, above 90 percent.
